DEADLINE (London/Berlin)

Britta Jürgens, Matthew Griffin
The basis for all our activities is DEADLINE, our office, which provides services on the edges of architectural production. The office fluctuates in size (2 - 35 people). It also forms a flexible framework which provides financial and technological support for independent research in non commercial fields.

We are interested in the structural changes taking place (technological, social and economic) at the end of the mechanical age, and their particular effects on architecture and urban planning.

Our projects are experiments with the emerging information age structures which are evident in different spheres, but have yet to manifest themselves in urban form. We see no separation between material and social structure, and with each project we explore the influence these fields have on each other, hoping that through careful observation we will anticipate the coming changes in the built environment.
